Booster
doses as covid and side effects subside
A new Covid-19 vaccine from
the Serum Institute of India, known as Covovax, received approval from India'
Controller
General of Medicines (DCGI) on Tuesday for use as a heterologous booster.
A heterologous booster may
be given to adults who have purchased two doses of Covishield or Covaxin.
. A booster or precautionary
dose is 1/3 of the dose of the Covid vaccine, to be taken
after the
first two mandatory doses. It could be given nine months after the second dose.
While many national governments
and specialists were seeking to urge people to take the booster or 1/3 dose
Currently, it
is no longer mandatory to take a dose of caution in India
The most
effective 20% of the eligible population in India have received a booster dose
